MERGERS AND ACQUISITIONS IN THE MF INDUSTRY
 

Shinsei Mutual Fund a joint venture between Japan-based Shensei Bank and billionaire investor Rakesh Jhunjhunwala has been acquired by Daiwa Mutual Fund.

Japan's Nomura Group has entered into a joint venture of 35:65 with LIC Mutual Fund. The fund house was rechristened as LIC Nomura Mutual Fund.

Due to restructuring in the global Fortis group, Fortis Mutual Fund in India was acquired and named as BNP Paribas Mutual Fund. BNP Paribas, also had a joint venture with Sundaram Finance named Sundaram BNP Paribas Mutual Fund. This later was bought by Sunadaram and is now renamed as Sundaram Mutual Fund.

Goldman Sachs Asset Management acquired Benchmark Asset Management Company, India's largest exchange-traded fund (ETF) player.
